My osteopath recommended I try Pilates and put me in touch with Lianne and I haven’t looked back since. I initially started going to Lianne about 2 years ago after having problems with my Achilles, hamstrings, back and knees. I have found Lianne to be a very inspirational teacher who through her own understanding of how the body works has taught me how to improve my own strength and help improve mobility by following her carefully thought out exercises. It’s always a pleasure taking a class with Lianne and can not recommend her highly enough.

I started Pilates as it was a fashionable exercise for celebrities. Having attended Liannes classes for nearly two years, I completely understand its popularity. Not only does Pilates help keep me toned, it also helps correct bad posture, which led to me developing low back pain. Lianne has not only assisted with this in class, but has also provided me with exercises I can do at home and has given me advise on how to help support my back while I sit at my desk etc.
Pilates is a great form of exercise, and Lianne is a fabulous instructor. She mixes up the moves each lesson and uses various different pieces of equipment. I personally love this varied approach as I’m not the kind of girl who can go and run on a treadmill for an hour at the gym. Throughout the class, Lianne always check that you are working to your full potential, but without injuring yourself. She’s a great motivator and will definitely give you a hard work out!
Lianne is a highly trained and professional teacher with a great personal approach meeting every individual’s needs. If anyone is looking to take up a new exercise I strongly recommend Pilates.

After being referred to a back specialist about my back problems, I was told that it would be beneficial to strengthen my back by a Pilates method, so after doing some research and after recommendation from friends, I began lessons with Lianne.
I have been doing Pilates with Lianne for nearly a year now and it has made such a difference, I am now able to take some control back and chuck away the pain killers.
Lianne is really highly trained and is not only an amazing Pilates teacher, but is qualified to be able aid in rehabilitation for those who have been unfortunate to have injuries and / or recovering from operations. Lianne is the highest qualified instructor on the Island and that is why I chose her.
Before going to Pilates, I was under the impression it was a bit like yoga, which personally was not for me as I found it boring, but Pilates can be a really really tough work out. Lianne will assess you throughout the classes and make sure you are not pushing yourself if you are new to it or have injuries, however when you are fit and up for a challenge, a challenge is what you will get!
As a new Mum I was so grateful of Pilates and how it has given me my tummy back too – I’ll be a life longer Pilates fan.

Nearly 2 years ago I was forced to give up playing football and road running. I was diagnosed with “deterioration of one of my spinal discs”. This deterioration was causing severe pain down my left leg (pinched nerve) all the way into my knee. At times, the pain was unbearable. I was struggling to stand up let alone walk. Pain killers were the order of the day.
I met Lianne Gregory from the Pilates Room and over the last 2 years I have been learning the art of Pilates. Slowly but surely my overall physical state has improved to the extent where I am pain free, far more flexible and my mobility is at least 50% better than when I started Pilates. My posture and strength has also improved significantly. Over time I have learnt about correcting bad posture, lengthening and stretching.
I am also delighted to say that I am back on the football pitch playing at club level and I am also able to run on the road again. At once stage I never thought I would be able to continue with two sports that I love.
I would recommend Pilates (especially with Lianne Gregory) for any person wanting to improve their overall core strength and flexibility. Pilates is especially important for very active sports people like myself.

“Lianne has been our office Pilates teacher since June 2010, and we find her to be friendly, patient and approachable. In such a short time we have all benefited from the lunchtime class. We have experienced improvements to our posture and now understand how important it is to develop core strength. We soon realised from the first class that our bodies had developed bad posture habits from working in an office every day.
We have all found that Lianne is not only able to explains each exercise in terms which we can understand, but she demonstrates each stage of the exercise whilst giving instruction. We all appreciate it when she checks that we are performing the movement correctly to gain the most out of each exercise. She gives us encouragement and it is amazing how much more flexible your body becomes after a few classes.
We are very grateful to Lianne as she has also kindly devised exercises which we can perform at our desks.
We think many more offices would benefit from giving their staff Pilates classes, not only from the feeling of well being after the class but the health benefits of developing better body posture.
Many thanks Lianne, from all at Castletown Insurance Services Ltd”

“As a former gym member, I have for many years used gym equipment to tone myself – it became my lifestyle.
However I realise now I may have been doing more harm than good to my body.
After attending Lianne’s Pilates classes, I now appreciate how important ‘core strength’ posture is and she acts as a constant guide to explain how each Pilates posture should be applied.
She is a source of inspiration and has certainly improved my body awareness and well-being since I joined her classes.
I have now discontinued my gym membership and intend to continue with the Pilates programme.”

“I seriously injured myself playing hockey 15 months ago after suffering a herniated spinal disc. I was in serious pain for 6 months as the herniated disc was aggravating my sciatic nerve sending pain down all the way down my left leg.
I began receiving treatment from a Physiotherapist after a month, after two months i saw no progress, i saw a Chiropractor after this for 4 months and saw some improvements but only slight. I saw a surgeon who told me the injury may never properly heal and i may have to give up various sporting activities and at 29 years old this was a shock.
I then began Pilates as a last resort about 9 months into my injury and after a month i began to see improvement, after 3 months i began light jogging and 6 months later i’m playing all my usual sports again, hockey, football, squash and golf. I have Lianne to thank for my recovery and return to sport.
Pilates has taught me to stretch and exercise in the correct fashion whilst maintaining good posture and a strong core. I now carry out various forms of Pilates on a daily basis. I urge anyone, no matter what age to take up Pilates. It’s a fantastic way of keeping your body and posture in good shape!!”

” Lianne Gregory has been my Pilates instructor for 2 years.
Prior to that I had neck and back problems for 5 years or more and had tried all sorts of treatments including chiropractic, osteopaths, acupuncture and Chinese medicine!
I have not required any treatment since finding Pilates with Lianne, learning to strengthen my inner core, correcting my posture and enjoying the challenge in the process.
I wish I had found Pilates when I was younger but never too late !
Thank you Lianne and I wish you all my best wishes for you new venture”

“I would just like to say how much I enjoy your classes.
Since suffering from a spinal cord stroke in July 2009, I have had difficulty with my balance, and with my walking.
I am finding that with your help I am able to correct my balance, and will continue to take your classes.
I wish you good luck with your new venture at Onchan Park.”

“Pilates significantly improved my posture, strength and flexibility, which in turn helped me achieve more accuracy in my dressage moves. My dressage coach, Janet, noticed this. Correction through pelvis, shoulder girdle and hips, helped in particular. Lianne also taught me (through Pilates) how to achieve a still upper body and lengthen through my hip which helps maintain the leg behind the girth position accurately during movements.”

“Prior to receiving Pilate’s tuition I had always ridden with uneven stirrups, which inhibited some dressage movements. Pilate’s exercises to correct and re-balance my muscles through waist and hips enabled me to get even weight distribution through my seat bones. I am now riding with equal stirrups so a big thank you to Lianne.”

“I have an undiagnosed lymph problem that affects my legs. The literature does not recommend rigorous exercise and pilates offers a great alternative to more strenuous sports/activities. I believe that pilates has helped maintain (if not improve) the size of my legs whilst increasing my suppleness and body tone. I also suffer from whiplash injuries and pilates has helped to re-balance my body and improve the strength of the damaged muscles.
Lianne is a patient and experienced pilates trainer. Her pilates exercise programmes are versatile and enjoyable. I learnt more in a couple of pilates sessions with Lianne than a full year of pilates classes at a gym. You would not believe how such a small movement can do so much for your body. Lianne keeps the exercises interesting and varied, and works with you to develop, strengthen and balance your body.
I would recommend pilates and Lianne’s training to anybody, no matter what your size, fitness or age.”
